If your ASUS Chromebook C424MA-DH48F keyboard is unresponsive or your keystrokes are not the inputs you were expecting, you can try these troubleshooting steps to help diagnose the issue.
Power Interuption caused Keyboard to Crash
Try resetting your computer, sometimes a simple reset is all that is needed to fix your keyboard. To do this you can:
- Turn off the Chromebook by pressing and holding the [POWER] button until the device powers down, then turn it back on again with the same button.
Chromebook Keyboard is Frozen
Perform a hard reset on your Chromebook's hardware, this will reset the connection of your keyboard to your Chromebook. To do this you can:
- Power off the Chromebook (Press and hold the power button for at least 4 seconds to force shut down)
- Press and hold the [Refresh button], then click the [Power button] to power on.
- Release the [Refresh button] until the Chromebook restarts.
Account setting Interfering with Keyboard Use
Use a "Guest Account" to reset settings on your keyboard, you can do this by:
- Sign out of your account and try using the keyboard as a guest, to sign out click the [Status Bar] located at the bottom right of the screen, then click “Sign out”.
- Click [Browse as Guest] at the bottom. If the keys work, you can try deleting and re-adding your account.
Outdated Drivers caused Keyboard to Freeze
These errors are generally related to either your drivers or conflicting software, you can use the keyboard troubleshooter to detect and resolve problems. To do this, you can:
- Type and search Troubleshoot settings in the Windows search bar
- Click Open
- Select Keyboard in the troubleshoot window
- Click Run the troubleshooter
- Follow the on-screen prompts
Driver Failure caused Keyboard to not respond
If the keyboard has failed, you can try resetting your Chromebook to factory settings. To do this, you can:
- Sign out of your Chromebook
- Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r
- Select Restart
- Select "Powerwash" in the box that appears
- Follow the steps and sign in with your Google Account
