I tore the original cable replacing the hard drive.

Ma solution

Very easy! Outside a little adhesive that was holding s portion of cable to the case body, the old cable came out nicely, and the new cable went right into place.

I purchased a 1tb Crucial SSD to replace the HDD in my MacBook Pro. After formatting the drive and using CC Cloner to clone it, I could boot to the SSD via USB, but not from the internal SATA connection.
