Announced and released in September 2012, the Kindle Fire HD is a 7" multimedia tablet by Amazon. Improvements over the standard Kindle Fire include a 1280x800 pixel HD display with in-plane switching technology, a front-facing camera, and a mini HDMI-out port. The tablet runs on Amazon's highly customized version of the Android operating system and is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor and 1 GB of DDR2 RAM. One of the biggest selling points of the Fire HD was its 16.43 Wh battery, claiming over 11 hours of music, movies, internet browsing, or reading.
