Background
The Lenovo Y50-80 is a series of IdeaPad notebooks. The Lenovo series Y50 was released in the second quarter of 2014. The Lenovo Ideapad series ceased production in 2017. The Lenovo Y50-80 has Bluetooth, uses Microsoft 8.1, and the keyboard is backlit. This device was designed specifically for multimedia and gaming purposes. The previous version of this device, the Lenovo Y50-70, had hinge failure, whereas the Lenovo Y50-80 resolved these problems. The hinge-failure is not listed as a recall, but has been resolved. This series was an upgraded version of the Lenovo Y40 series and was upgraded the following year in 2015. These upgrades include an IPS LCD panel display, Intel Core i7-4720HQ, and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960M.
The Lenovo Y50-80 was available in other countries, such as India and the United States. The initial selling price was $1050, but more expensive models were available. Customers were pleased with the affordability of this laptop despite the poor battery which only lasted three hours.
Identification
The Lenovo Y50-80 has the “lenovo” logo in all lowercase on the top left corner of the laptop cover. The logo is light silver against a sleek, dark gray cover. The left and right sides of the cover are slanted to create a triangular design. The only case color option is black, and the keyboard includes an LED backlight. The dimensions are 15.24" x 10.37" x 0.94"; 387mm x 263.4mm x 23.9mm.
The integrated camera and built-in microphone are located on the top center area of the laptop screen’s frame. The Kensington lock slot, USB port, memory card slot, combo audio jack, and S/PDIF are located in descending order on the right edge of the keyboard. The speakers are on the left and right sides of the area in between the laptop’s screen and keyboard. The wireless LAN antennas are on either side of the area below the lowercase “lenovo” logo that is located in the center of the bottom side of the screen’s frame.
The ventilation slots are placed in the center area in between the screen and keyboard. The novo button and power button can be found on the right side of the area in between the screen and keyboard. The system status indicators are on the bottom left edge of the keyboard. The touchpad is in the center of the area below the keyboard. The model number is under the battery.
