Background and Identification
Released in 2012, Polaroid Tablets are usually not found on comparison lists and the new tablets and are not heavily advertised. However, they are budget tablets designed for users who want a tablet for the basics such as checking emails, reading e-books, or watching movies. Surprisingly, these tablets are not made by the respected camera and film manufacturer, Polaroid. Rather, they are made by Southern Telecom, which licenses the Polaroid name.
Although the Polaroid tablet lacks high end specs like those in the iPad, it comes with Google’s new feature-rich Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, and has some neat hardware features expected in more expensive tablets by Samsung or Asus. The Ice Cream Sandwich OS is designed for smaller screens and allows apps to be downloaded from the Android online app store.
One main advantage of the Polaroid tablet is its expandable storage through an SD card. Overall, Polaroid tablets are great for listening to music, reading books, taking pictures, etc. Users desiring tablets for video editing, creating digital art, running emulation programs that allow the control of a remote desktop computer, or any other heavy tasks should consider a higher end tablet.
