Background Information
Origonally based on the development of Vector Linux, Puppy Linux is set of light weight linux distribution that primarly focus on ease of use, and minimal memory requirements, and was released in 2003.
The OS is designed to run from Random Access Memory (RAM), and the the general footprint of the OS normally takes up 300 MB for 32-bit systems, or 600 MB for 64-bit systems. The distribution includes a tool named Woof, which can allow users to create their own custom Puppy Linux distribtuion from the binary packages of other Linux distributions.
The distribution was origonally delveloped by Barry Kauler, until his retirmenet in 2013, along with Larry Short and Mick Amadio. The OS was developed in response to other Linux distribtuions becoming more demanding in system requirements over time.
