Background and Identification
The Wii U Pro Controller is a video game controlled produced for the Wii U video game console by Nintendo. The Wii U Pro Controller was sold in black and white. Nintendo released the Wii U Pro Controller in 2012, and many video game journalists have noted similarities between the controller and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 Controller.
The Wii U Pro Controller functions as a secondary controller released for the Wii U console and was sold separately. The Wii U gaming system can be connected to up to four Wii U Pro Controllers at once, though Super Smash Bros. for Wii U allows users to connect more than four controllers. Like more traditional controllers, the Wii U Pro Controller features standard analog sticks and face buttons. Like the Wii U GamePad and Classic Controller Pro, the Wii U Pro Controller includes digital triggers.
The Wii U Pro Controller uses the same 1300 mAh CTR-003 battery used in the Nintendo 3DS and 2DS. The battery can last up to 80 hours before needing to be recharged. The controller’s charging table can plug into any USB port. Certain video games with flexible control schemes such as Call of Duty: Black Ops II and Trine 2: Director’s Cut are also compatible with the Classic Controller. The Wii U Pro Controller is not compatible with previous-generation Wii games.
