The suppliers table lists the places where an item (a tool, material, or part) may be purchased. It should appear only on Item articles, and there should be only one table per article. The table has up to four columns, but empty columns are not displayed. The four potential columns are:
- Url: This one is the most important, and should be a URL that links to a product page where the item may be purchased.
- Supplier: The name of the company the item may be purchased from.
- Part #: The part number that the company uses to refer to the item.
- Type: If the item has several variations, this field may be used to distinguish between them. For instance, a crescent wrench can come in many different sizes.
The data from the suppliers table is used to add purchase links to items used in guides, and elsewhere on the site. Because of its connecting role, you should probably only edit the suppliers table if you're confident you know what you're doing.
Editing the table
When editing an Item article, you should see a table at the top of the page with a heading of Suppliers. On a new item the table will be empty, and on an existing item it might already have some values filled in. To edit a particular cell, just hover over it. The text should be replaced with an input that you can click on to edit the cell text. When you're done, just hit enter to replace the input with the updated text. When you have a cell input focused, you can hit tab to edit the next cell.
In edit mode, cells with no value will display with a dash, but the same cells will simply be empty when viewing the article normally. The dashes are just there so that you know there's a cell you can edit. If you finish editing a cell, and all cells in the row are empty, then the row will disappear. You can always add another row by clicking on the Add a new row link.
