What causes the loss of sound problem on the MacBook Air?
Recently had my MacBook Air rev A hinge fixed at Apple Store in the UK and they fixed the loss of sound problem by replacing audio board and cable.
Its known that the hinge problem in early MBA models was a design issue that Apple now fix but does anyone know what causes the loss of sound problem and why its a hardware fix please?
Also, given that both are now fixed, is this now a permanent solution in both cases please?
Finally, why is there no statement on the hardware fix for loss of sound on MacBook Air, like there is for the hinge problem please?
Thanks!

I noticed you never got an answer to this. Are you still having this problem?

To leave my testimony, in 2009 I had my 2008's revA MBA hinge fixed, and now again in 2011, so it is a recurrent problem. Worse than that, Apple fixes it outside the original warranty by giving users an 1year extended warranty (just for the hinge), but if the problem reappears later on they will not take charge.
My sound is now gone as well, after the recent fix.
