It's not removable or user removable as the previous 21.5" models.

only the 27 inch iMacs have a removable pedestal. This will not work with a 21.5 inch iMac.

Got some bad news here -
The newest iMacs stands are different than the older ones. Presently there is no bracket mounts VESA Mount Standard to swap them out with.
