How to replace the internal battery?

The internal battery to save date/time is out of order, that means every time I take the main accu off the cam, I have to do these settings.

Does somebody know how to replace the internal battery? I do not want to bring the cam to Nikon Service and wait several weeks.

Thx for your answers.

Did you take a look at that Nikon D600 Teardown ?

Don't you find any answer ?

Hi @bryancarpo

The camera's clock is powered by an independent, rechargeable power source, which is charged as necessary, by the main battery. It can also be charged, if you have purchased a Power Adapter EH-5b and Power Connector EP-5A, when the power adapter is connected to the camera, as will the main battery.

If the camera displays a warning every time, at startup, stating that the clock is not set the clock 'battery' is either faulty or there is a loose connection so as to prevent it from being charged.

The clock 'battery' is not user serviceable, (I believe it may be a capacitor soldered onto a circuit board). As you state that the camera is new your only option, I believe, is to check the warranty statement in the documentation that came with the camera and follow what it states to do in regard to making a claim for a warranty replacement or repair.

Dirk Wirtz, I remember having read that the clock battery is not user serviceable (of course not, that would be to easy). It is actually a capacitor soldered to a circuit board, not a traditional battery. Your only options would be exchanging the camera or have it repaired by Nikon.

The manual says on page 156 that the internal battery will charged when the main battery is installed and AC adapter is connected and after 10 hours of charging.

I have done this and still have to reset time and date every time the battery runs our and I have to replace it with a fresh battery.

I still like the features of the P100 but maybe it's time to retire my 6 year old camera. I have take thousands of pictures over the years.

I don't have a D600 but as we can see on the tear down, at step 15 Nikon D600 Teardown , the battery is accessible quite easily once the back cover is removed...

This does not seem to be a rechargeable battery.

The real-time clock is powered by a rechargeable lithium battery. The camera has to be torn down to the point of exposing & de-soldering the old battery and replacing it with a new one. The image in this link clearly shows the button-type, lithium battery. https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/ig...
