They officially state that boiling water (boil it, remove from heat, submerge iopener for a few minutes) is the way to do it without a microwave.

Tho oven works. I heated the iOpener for 20-30 min. initially at 160°C / 320°F. While using it to open a ipad I reheated it several times for 5 min. Completed the job successfully.

Don't use the water bath. The oven might work, but it will take longer, most likely, and probably won't work as well. My recommendation is that you should either get a microwave, do the repair at a friends house with a microwave, or use a heat gun.

Under any circumstances DO NOT USE AN OVEN FOR HEATING IOPENER! Heated mine for 15 min at 170 degrees and the thing melted down. I was stupid enough not to check the oven the whole time. The plastic broke and that hot liquid was all over my oven.

It may be possible but for future reference 20 min and 170 celcius is way too long.

Yes this is true for microwave. A regular Oven heats up stuff in a different way and therefore takes longer time. Thats kind of the point of microwave - it heats up food fast

Heated 5 mins in 140C oven and worked perfectly. Whenever cooled down, just popped it back in 140C oven for another 5 mins. Bit slower but did fine.

I can confirm that in the oven using "hot air" mode, under 150C for 5 - 6 mins is more than enough. However, the process is so tiring in the end I went with the hair dryer (my screen was broken anyways so I didn't mind some cracks). I suggest, as someone stated below in the comments, to use the heat gun.
