kaye, I don't think there is an "official" way to do that. You can disable voice dialing by ->Settings->General->Passcode Lock>Voice dial. Take a look on here.

Most iPhones 4 run final software version, iOS 7.1.2. Your one sentence instruction does not apply to iOS 7.1.2. Your referenced article has two parts. Its first part (Method 1) is not helpful, as it depicts newer iOS software on newer iPhone hardware. Its second part (Method 2) is helpful but, it applies to jailbroken modified iOS, it does not apply to stock iOS.

Was this answer helpful? I opine NO. It would be helpful if, instead of being curt ('Take a look on here.'), it mentioned the jailbreak detour.

Here I only act with intention to be helpful, constructive. I believe my answer is helpful because, it specifies relevant iOS software version. I oppose misinformation and distractful duplication. Please try to believe me.

@unsubstantiated sure but this one is from early 2014 and iOS 7.1.2 was not released until June 30, 2014

Sure, my mention of iOS 7.1.2 was overly specific.

But Original Question is applicable to, and your answer does not help to, iOS 7.1. (Proof.)

Also applicable to iPhone 4C (iPhone 4 CDMA).

Stuffe answers this on Ask Different.

This setting seems to have been removed. Prior to 7.1 it was in:

Settings > General > Passcode > Voice Dial > OFF

Since 7.1 things have moved around a bit in settings, and the equivalent area would now be:

Settings > Passcode

… only the option is absent. Hopefully it will be returned, as my sticky home buttoned iPhone 4 is also occasionally dialling nonsense for me.

So, to summarise, there seems to be no way to turn it off for iOS 7.1 on a non jailbroken iPhone.

@oldturkey03 Hi sir/ma'am! I'm a shiny new member to the forums and I don't mean to upset the higher ups but... why the downvote?

I kinda get why you would downvote this answer because it is duplicate; I see we have moderation actions here. One of the moderation actions here is "remove as duplicate or off-topic", why not just do that? You can then mention the user and say "Hey @|unsubstantiated, I removed your answer because it duplicated mine. Just letting you know why your answer was moderated.".

I do not mean to upset or offend; I was offering a suggestion of what you could do that would deal less damage.

Have a nice day!

PS: You may know my friend/classmate @ajcooke01 , he was the one who brought me here. I'm a fellow fixer like him and I'll do my best to help people fix their stuff here.

@hygo yes of course, you are absolutely right. I should have thought of that. Thanks. Down-votes should be reserved for misleading or blatantly wrong answers.

@oldturkey03 I certainly agree with you on that. No need to bash someone who just echoes something you say. Unless they keep doing it obnoxiously, haha!
