MacBook Turns Off When Moved

Hello,

I have a MacBook Core Duo 1.83 GHz with Mac OC X 10.4.11 installed on it. It seems that whenever I pick up the laptop, tilt it or move it in anyway - the computer goes into a sleep mode (black screen) that I am unable to wake it up from this. I have to constantly hold down the power button to shut it off and then press it again to reboot. Also, sometimes there is a noise of the disk drive spinning back and forth like it can't complete the rotation to boot.

Any advice on what's wrong or how to fix it? Thank you!

Does this behavior happen on battery power, AC power, or both? I ask because sometimes a dead or near-dead battery can cause behavior similar to what you describe. I'd be curious if the laptop behaves differently with the battery removed, and connected to AC power. I would also suggest resetting the PMU (with the computer off, hold down the power button for about 10 seconds until you see the sleep light blinking and hear a tone). Good luck!

I'd just open the case quick and see if any cables are loose.

I agree, although it sounds worse

Definitely a power issue... the drive clicking is failed attempts for the computer to turn on.

This is going to be more than a self fix i would take it to apple and see what they can tell you it could be a number of things.

Something is touching the logic board, if you had taken it in for a repair like my laptop this can happen, to prove it is no the battery, run it on just the power cable it it still dose it, it's not the battery. They also might blame over heating. Or the Logic board might be going bad.
