Is it possible to replace usb ports that I think are short-circuited.
Ok, so i had a brainless moment... I have a lot of peripherals that i use with my mac for music production, most of which i run through a powered usb hub. I went to hook it all back up after my move. I plugged the usb hub via usb to my mac, then i plugged the power source into the hub. The problem is, i used the wrong power supply!!! I accidentally got the one for my dj controller mixed up with the one for the hub. So i un-intentionally put 12v straight into it! Doh! My mac instantly did a hard reset, and upon reboot everything seems to be working except for the two usb ports. Sd card fine, keyboard fine, thunderbolt fine, but none of my devices register through the usb. Is this a fatal mistake? Or is it something that can be fixed?

you do want to open up your MBP and take a look around. There are a few resistors that may have taken a bit of a hit, as well as your SATA controller. I take it that none of your USB ports are working?

Did you check to see if any of the components around the USB ports are burned or missing:-)
