iPhone 4 does not power

Hello,

I currently have an iPhone 5S, but I also have an older iPhone 4 from Verizon. It's been a while now since I had the iPhone 4 working. The phone was dying at that time and it needed a charge but at that time I did not have a good charger meaning a charger you know it would be bad because it would go on and off making those charging noises and the next thing you know there is honestly no life to the phone. There is not a sign of the red battery indicator. It will not even recognize in iTunes. It will not even enter DFU nor recovery. As of now I do have a charger and it does charge my iPod Classic, and with this charger it will not charge the iPhone 4. May I please ask two questions? 1.) what could be the problem? And 2.) could it be fixed? Thank you!

Options

First things first , Replace the battery and see if this solves the issue as apple phone are not designed to run off the charger power alone it first charges the battery which then powers the components. so if your battery has failed this would explain your problem. If not then more troubleshooting can be done once this is confirmed.

I did not replace the battery yet, but assuming replacing the battery does not fix it than what would be my next part of troubleshooting?

Alright, I bought a battery and it had 17% charge on it and the phone died and when connecting it and it shows the red charging with the sign of connecting it to the charger and I tried different chargers and all chargers I tried are good.
