You currently have the larger memory version of the card (512MB). I don't know of any ATI Radeon HD 4670 board that has more onboard memory.
This was asked before as far as other possible upgrade: Can I install an ATI Radeon 6790 2GB in 21.5" iMac.
Basically, the iMac as good as it is, is not a high end gaming box. The current crop of interactive gaming pushes the limits of both the CPU and the graphics of the system beyond what Apple designed in this series.
I would recommend you save your pennies and think about a Mac Pro. It is by far at the top end of what is possible. Yes, it will take a few years worth of pennies ;-}
I can tell you we have had a lot of fun with ours after work!

thanks for your answer, ultimately it's time for an upgrade but want to push the last few months out of this machine and have a bit of fun opening it up :)
