Soldering ram slot on the logic board

While performing a repair I may have bent the logic board enough to cause the RAM slot closer to the keyboard to become loosened. Now any RAM stick I use in this slow will cause the computer to hang and reboot. The other RAM slot works fine.

I was planning on using a thin soldering iron to reconnect any broken circuits connecting the RAM in place. I see thin copper wires from the logic board to the RAM slot that I may need to investigate. You can see them below the barcode sticker in this image.

Has anyone performed a similar repair before?

Can you give us the last four digits of your serial number so we can correctly identify your system.

My serial is W80262S6AGZ. It's a mid-2010 model so I believe it allows 4GB per slot?

STOP! Don't do that!

There really isn't anyway you could jumper the module to the socket with solder. All you'll do is make a mess! Which could kill your system.

At this point I would get the next larger module (4 GB or 8 GB which ever the system can support) and leave the damaged socket alone.

Thanks for your answer. Would soldering a single pin be likely to cause any damage? I don't intend to do substantial work. Having read some of the other posts here I'm slightly hesitant.

No, not wise direction, more likely to hurt than help. If you have a bad module replace it. If it's the socket, don't use that socket. Thats your choices - Sorry. Put the soldering iron in the drawer ;-}

Hmm ok, I'll open it up and take a closer look at what's wrong. It might not even be visible, but it's worth a try. I guess soldering is out of the question.
