Depends on your model, but I would unplug it and find a way to disassemble the fan to check the wiring to the fan motor and switch. Then measure the individual points to where you have power and where it stops. Could be the switch as well as an internal fuse on the fan. Again, depends on the model.

No power

@dicktracy65596 time to unplug it, take it apart and check teh motor, switch and capacitors etc. All you should need is a pair of screwdrivers and a multi-meter.

My Lasko fan/air filter model 2559 stopped working. Would not power on. Took it outside and used my leaf blower to remove all the dust. It works fine now.

mine is just over the year mark for manufacturer’s warranty and i hate throwing stuff away if i can help it anyways, so i replaced the wall plug (theirs contains a safety fuse, which blows if you press two buttons at once or in quick succession- poor design) and it works fine now. cost 3$ and a relatively simple/easy repair.

Hi @Donna Mathews,

There is a 12 months manufacturer’s warranty on the fan

Contact the manufacturer as per the details in the image shown below which was taken from the Lasko 2711 user manual about a manufacturer’s warranty repair or replacement. That’s what warranties are for.

See if the blades turn freely first. If they do, try taking it apart and checking the thermal fuse of the motor which will probably be wrapped into the coils somewhere near where the wires go in. Unfortunately it's a bit fragile since the wires are thin, so you'll probably have to exercise caution.

If your fan sudden stops working. It may be as simple as the plug itself Here is why.

If your plug has Patent written between the prongs, It likely has a hidden fuse inside the plug.....

Here is what is hidden inside the blue molded plastic plug...

Block Image

An online fuse with very small limited - 2.5A which means the manufacturer did not want more current than this going into the fan PC board because I guess they didn't design it to handle more though they apparently also allow more to be "drawn" into the unit at least momentarily and then you have a paper weight for a fan because the manufacturer did not create a way to change the fuse..... as you can see in the torn apart plug in these pictures. The fuse is permanently molded into the plug with no provision for knowing if the fuse "blew" or replacing it. ( Very poor desgin from my POV ).

See Patent if you are interested in what I am talking about. The above answer about replacement the plug worked for me on a different Lasko fan.Patent LaskoPlug WithHiddenFuse
