iPhone 5 water damaged dead, it heats a bit while in charge

I have an iPhone 5 that is totally dead after water damage, I changed screen, battery, charging port... Everything, so the problem is the mobo. It only heats a bit while in charge and that's all. Suggestions? Thanks to all.

Did you clean the logic board with isopropyl alcohol? (Connectors, components, corrosion)

par

Yes, I forgot to mention. Thank you for your time

Mauro, we talked a little in that other thread. What percent of isopropyl alcohol did you use?

par

99% I hope I used the right one

par

Yeah, that should be fine. Kinda surprised. The next thing to do is micro solder the u2iC chip. Do able. However, you do need some equipment

The phone was washed and dried, it has no water inside, it could have some corrosion, but with a good amount of luck I'll isolate the problem

josh rice does not do anything! It is absolutely useless and has no place in any repair.

Huh......No place in repair....whatever dude...it will dry any water or moisture in device that gets wet......you can take phone drop in sink full of water....if you take put straight in container with rice......by next day phone be good 2go.....rice does do something ....I've seen it two many times.....

For a long term successful repair you need to remove corrosive minerals left behind by water. Rice does not do this. Sure you may be able to throw the phone in rice for a few days and have it power on and work, especially with less severe water damaged phones. But in time the corrosion usually wins. So for the best chance of a successful repair clean all parts acceptable to corrosion as soon as possible with Isopropy alcohol or similar cleaning agent to remove corrosive conductive minerals left behind by water. Ultrasonic cleaner is the best choice if you have access to one. So for a successful repair it is just as important to remove corrosive minerals as much as it is to remove all moisture. So that is one reason why rice is not helpful in water damage repair, it in no way helps remove corrosive minerals where Isopropy alcohol does.
