Cant hear sound after following screen replacement with frame guide

So I got a finished with this Guide and was so happy as its my first time repairing something, or so I thought as I tested it out and made a phone call where both lines of the other end could hear each other perfectly fine as usually. I came across the problem of not being able to hear notifications, so I tried playing music nothing was audible. The next day I disassemble the phone, and follow the video looking for any I may have made, the only thing that I didn't do and the video did do was remove the old earpiece onto the new display assemble, but didn't do that because it looked like that a new earpiece already came with the new display assemble.

Guys please help me fix this issue, I don't want all that enthusiasm to be ruined by this.

Make sure that the contacts on the display frame are lined up correctly with the loud speaker and that the flex cable is actually there. The contacts on the loud speaker look like they could be bent up to make better contact as well. This photo shows the contacts clearly.

Nice spot. This I didn't realize this actually routed the connection from the logic board to the loud speaker.

The screens I had came with a green one instead of a orange one but I guess they are identical in functionality just looks different.

Ok I think I found the problem but I don't know how to solve it. So when looking at Josiah's photo with the circle on the left with one of the gold patches extending further on the orange logic board. And the screen I ordered its orange one doesn't have conductor that extended that far. I have taken a photo of my screen with frame (https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=EF...) and the red circle shows where the gold patches are for this orange board, but my old logic board is green and is like Josiah photo as its the same formation, with on my photo where the green circle is where a gold patch is suppose to be for the audio box connection.

So my question is how do I switch my old logic board with the new one to put on my new screen with the frame?

Have you thought to swap the different lex connectors over?

par

Definitely the problem. You have a few options.

Heat it with a hair dryer and scrape it off with a razor blade starting from the top of the screen. Try the bad one first.

Contact the seller and see if they will exchange it for a different one that lines up right.

Or, tape the new contacts over with electrical tape and run wires to the speaker separately.

Let me know if that's too hard to understand. It's difficult to describe what I mean.

Thank you for these options! The only one I am confused about is the 3rd one.

I was thinking that this phone has two speakers but it looks like it uses the earpiece speaker as a ringer too. I could be wrong.

Anyway I looked at a Nokia Lumia 635 screen assembly and it turns out you can take out the earpiece speaker from the old screen. You need to pry the eariece speaker off as it's stuck with adhesive on top of the metal plating.

Took one out successfully so it isn't too hard. Sometimes the pre-installed one can be faulty.

I have a question though:

Does your phone have a speaker at the bottom back?

Yeah it has a bottom speaker in the back, that's why I didn't know if I should take the earpiece out as I made a phone call and could hear the person on the other line, and they could hear me.

So I'm stuck at square one still. (Thank you for helping me still, please keep doing so!)

Nathaniel, I would suggest swapping the earpiece speakers over, as the old one is in good working order. The new earpiece maybe faulty, which is one common cause for the no sound.

Be careful with taking the old one out (last thing you want to do is separate the speaker coil from it's housing).

This should fix your issue.

I almost did that when I tried it before. Definitely gotta be careful that you don't separate the speaker piece and instead go completely under the whole piece.

But guys I am not completely sure if its the earpiece giving me issues. Its more of the bottom speaker connection I think. (I still appreciate the help, keep brainstorming :D)

par

Nathaniel, If you can hear them when making a phone call but cannot hear the ringer it is more likely it is the Loud speaker.

Check the speaker Module isn't damaged and is connecting to the board correctly. If you are unsure buy a new loud speaker module.

NJH I think your right about this, and thank you for finding what the problem is, also how to solve it.

But i am still lost on how I could fix it, heres a link to someone who had the same set of problems: No sound from notifications

I don't know what steps to do this procedure safely and effectively, please I know you have done enough already but I cant do this alone. And hopefully this helps someone later on.

It looks to me like the lower left contact just grounds the frame of the LCD to the logic board and has nothing to do with the loudspeaker. Could you upload a photo? Is the lower left contact able to touch the lcd frame, or is it connected to the speaker through the flex cable?

par

Hi.

The contact touching the lcd frame...but its still soft and have distort sound when ever a notification pops up..

What might it be...need i replace the speaker...but the speaker looks in good condition.

Any help please..?

I really don't know what the problem would be. You can test the connections by jumping the speaker inputs to the outputs on the board. A more sure test would be to cut a 3.5 mm cable apart and hard wire the speaker to the cable to test the speaker from the headphone port of another device. If you do both tests then you can determine the actual cause.

Hi

Is it possible to bridge the audio output jack to the loudspeaker (ringer) of a lumia 630.

Reason for it is that the audio components on pcb have burned.. Some kind of short circuit cause the audio output components to burn.

So basically there's no sound on the device accept the for the head fone jack...

Can i some how bridge it and can you maybe sent me pictures on how to do so....
