Your phone could be dead for a variety of reasons:

  • Dead battery — Throw it on the charger for about an hour and see if there's any life to it. No? Move to the next bullet.
  • Dead screen — Plug your USB charger into a computer and then plug the phone into the charger. If the computer recognizes it that may be a good sign you've got a cracked LCD which means you can't see anything on the phone. This is especially likely if you recently dropped your phoen.
  • Bad Charging port — If your phone was working, but now it's not, and it coincides with you having your battery worn down to 1 or 0%, then it makes sense it could be a bad port. Get it replaced!
  • Bad battery — Charger works, LCD shows an image, computer recognizes, it could be a bad battery that just doesn't want to take a charge. Buy a replacement battery or plug it into a wall and see what it does.
  • Bad cable — If you bought one of those gas station chargers, throw it out. Go and spend a few $$ and get a real charger and test that on your device. If it powers up you know the issue. If it doesn't, keep the cable and look at other options. TL;DR, DON'T BUY GAS STATION CHARGERS. No cables, no charging accessories. Nothing. Nada. You're asking for a fire hazard/short circuit/all around bad day by saving a few dollars here and paying dearly for it later.
