Why is my usb charger not staying connected to my phone

Two days ago I noticed when I connected my wall charger to my charging port on the phone that it.would connect show then a couple minutes later it will start vibrating and saying connect charger then it will charge like it's engaging and disengageing

Options

Try another charging cable first (if this wall charger has a cable together and can not be separated then try another wall charger).

If that does not work then your charger port is most likely damaged and needs to be replaced. I would take it to a mobile phone repair shop that does charger port repairs.
