You have to wash the device and unscrew the program screw.

How would the OP do that?

take apart the device then remove the program screw its Bronze or Gold in color in the middle of the systemboard. Then after put the device back together then using a usb with the OS from the data recovery tool wash the device by pressing ESC + refresh+ and power. insert the usb and wait.

It depends on the enrollment conditions. Most disable developer mode which will only allow a wash. the newer Chromebooks and newer chrome os will not allow you to remove the enrollment even when removing the program screw. You need to contact the place and have them release the device which will break the enrollment. I work at a school as a Chromebook tech. This is the same procedures we follow.

Have you been able to disable the hardware write protect and put the device in developer mode yet? Sorry I didn't see your question earlier.

If you can create the recovery media for this device with the Chromebook Recovery Utility and another chromebook or PC that supports USB devices or SD card media that is compatible with your target chromebook you should be able to reflash the device back to factory image after cycling it into developer mode and then back to standard mode. Here is what the utility for the chrome browser looks like in the chrome web store...

https://lifehacker.com/how-to-install-li... have you tried that ? incidently the refresh key should have a circular arrow logo on it mine is on the F3 key.

If those instructions don't get you into developer mode then perhaps google did something insidious in this management mode that blocks that hot key startup sequence from opening the door to the developer mode enabling. If so I can't tell you where to go from there. I've never actually seen one in managed mode and read very little about it either sorry!

Note: many of these older devices are going out of update support.

Use Mister Chrome Box UEFI firmware to turn it into a PC, then use an app called Brunch by Sebanc to install Linux with Chrome OS, then you will have play store and updates.

Or just run Linux like PopOs! , Ubuntu, Mint, etc or Win10 (I don't recommend Windows unless using a Ghost Spectre, LTSB or LTSC minimal version.)

I guess I should add that to do this I used a CH341a and a utility called ASProgrammer from Github to read and write the physical BIOS chip.

What version of chromeos is currently installed? check by pressing alt and v on the setup screen. if its lower than 110 then you can just powerwash it repeatedly and it should unenroll pretty easily.
