Of course the three beeps means a RAM failure. Here's how to test:
Take the good stick only and put in in one slot and boot. Now move it to the other slot and boot.
This test both the RAM and the slot.
Now try it with the other stick.
If it fails in both slots, it is bad. You may have shocked it.
Occasionally a slot can go partially bad and will take a stick with less RAM on it.
If you only have one good slot and the good stick is not enough RAM you can upgrade to a stick with more RAM and live off one good slot.
