Burned upper right hand corner of logic board is burned?

Hello I have a 2013 iMac 21.5 with what I believe a fried logic board. The back light of the screen went out so obviously I bought a new screen and hoped it would fix it but, nope. Anyway I decided to take the whole interior apart and eventually got to the logic board and found a burned area next to the ram attachment area and I was wondering if this could be the reason why the back light no longer works. And if maybe it's fixable because I know you guys don't sell them.

Please post some photos of this.

@ryanhandy entirely possible. Since we cannot see what you see, it would be nice if you post some images of your damaged board with your question. Also, give us the 820-XXXX number of your logicboard. To post images with your question use Ajout d'images à une question existante this guide

@ryanhandy that is definitely your backlight circuitry including the boost circuit for the backlight. Plenty of damage and broken traces. There might be a way to fix it but you will need to know how to microsolder etc. It may be more economical to either send it out for repair or replace the board.

The components itself are simple caps

All three capcitors are 2.2UF 100V 10% in a 1206 package

@oldturkey03 - There is additional damage by the display connector (3rd pic). Did you see that as well. I wonder if the replacement display was the correct one here.

It was an exact replacement by the SN and coding on the back of the first screen. Screen worked but the backlight. Any suggestions on where to send it most logic boards Im finding are almost half what a new replacement computer would cost.

@danj thanks. The component by the display adapter is L9100 which is a 250ohm ferrite bead. The package size will require the measurements between the solder pads. It is the 12V LCD circuit. Where to send it and to have someone take a look at it would depend on where you are located.

Sadly, I think its to far gone to fix economically. I think it would be best to replace it.

But, the worry here is what caused the damage in the first place!

You stated the backlight went so you then bought a replacement display. When you plugged in the new display did you hear a pop or see or smell the smoke? Did you hear a pop or see or smell smoke when the backlight went at the very start?

Do you have your system on a surge suppressor or UPS? Did you encounter a power disruption or a lightning storm?

When the original screen was in, it had no pop or smoke just a slight burning smell so I shut it down and tried replacing the screen and the screen worked just the backlight would not come on. The burning smell continued so I took it apart and found this.

This would be pretty straight forward fix for any microsolderer. If you bring me just the board I'd do the work for no more than $100. Not promoting any services. Just saying.

I'm currently not in front of schematics but it looks like this could be the culprit of your issues.
