Opening 2 halves of shell on headset
Is there a trick to separating the 2 halves of the shell on the headset?

There is glue securing the shell to the device, so slide a prying tool around the edges to try to weaken the bond. Eventually you should be able to pull/slide the two halves apart, which requires some force. Refer to our Remplacement de la coque externe du HTC Vive for more help.

What no one is saying is that there are 4 screws holding the shell on. This might depend on the model. those two tiny "sensor" holes on top and bottom are actually Phillips head screws. I broke one when I was taking apart my vive, after struggling for over an hour. That is how I found out. once I losened the other three the shell came right off.
