iPhone 7 copy screen not working with ios 11

Hello, Everyone ,

I’m angry!

I can’t get either an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus running iOS 11 to get the new copy screen function to work.

Can you explain a bit more here on what action you are using to copy? Are you double tapping a word, grouping a paragraph or two or are you trying to take a screenshot of the screen.

Did you have the screen replaced at some point?

There are numerous reports of aftermarket replacement screens failing after upgrading to iOS 11. At this point there is not much that can be done other than going back to iOS 10.3.3. You can check my profile for a brief blog post I did.

EDIT

Update 2017/10/11 - Apple just released iOS version 11.0.3 and it claims to address the Touch Failure on aftermarket screens. For those of you that have been waiting for an official fix, it appears to be here. Make sure to comment below if this update solves your problem.

@refectio - It appears iOS 11 has two touch control resources based on the hardware ID. The older non-force touch and force touch. So if you had your force touch screen replaced with a non force touch version the new iOS won’t work as expected as it’s not ID’ed correctly within iOS.

All of the Touch functionality is now combined into one IC that is embedded in the display. There is nothing left on the logic board. The problem appears to be that some aftermarket screens don't use a fully compatible IC or that the programming in iOS is not recognizing said IC. It's all a bit blurry now.

i was also having issues with the iphone 7 screen change over, would power on but just had the apple logo, tried a few things nothing seemed to be working. then tried just plugging it it to power it on and went to the internet to see if there was a solution, saw this comment thread here, went back to the phone and it was still on the apple logo ( had been about 5 minutes or so at this point) was about to unplug and take it apart again when the phone powered on all the way. dont know if that was the issue everyone else was having but hope this helps, currently waiting on the screen to fire up again after changing all the parts over.

If the aftermarket failure was fixed, how do I download the updated version without being able to put in my password?

I'm having the same issue with my Apple Store replacement screen. Doesn't look like it is just "copy" screens having this issue.

Swyping works but pushing icons and settings takes 30 seconds to respond with no force touch at all

that is because of embedded touch IC on the screen from iphone 6s. what we need to is just to wait for new update from apple like last time about home button with touch ID issue

original lcd refurbs are not having that problem.

the china copy/ aftermarket are the ones that in question atm. 3rd supplier we contacted just told us that their original grade screens work, but there are running more test to make sure there arnt any other problems. Their china lcd ones dont work ATM and they are trying to figure out a solution. the other supplier said they are working on figuring out the lcd/touch compatibility issue with ios 11.

I hope this can shed some light on the issue.

I replaced a friend's iPhone 7+ before iOS 11 was released. He broke it again (the aftermarket screen I fitted) and he gave me the phone with iOS 11.0.1 on it! Replacement broken screen touch works fine and I've just replaced it again for another new aftermarket screen; everything works fine!

I've taken photos of the rear of his original Apple screen as well as the two replacements screens. All the chips have digits printed on them.

Update (10/08/2017)

Ah, so this is the chip I have photos of, with the digits. The thinner silver chip is blank...

Apple rolled out iOS 11.0.3 and solved the issue for the iPhone 6s. I hope it works for iPhone 7 also.

UPDATE:

Just repaired a customers iPhone 7. Device was at iOS 11.0.

I temporary attached an aftermarket Display with connected original Touch ID on the device, connected the battery an pressed the power button.

The device ended in a boot loop...no way to boot it completely up.

So I swapped the displays again and attached the broken, original one. Booted up, updated to iOS 11.0.3. Then I shut it down, removed the battery connector, swapped the display again (put the aftermarket one on it) and voila!! Everythings works like a charm again.

iOS 11.0.3 fixed also the problems with iPhone 7 / iPhone 7 Plus

you need put all the small parts[camera, home button], then test it, it will be ok. otherwise, even the original it seems that it also has the issue.

I still have my original screen on my IPhone 6+ (although it has a small crack in the corner) and it was messed up by the IOS 11 upgrade. 11.0.1 didn’t fix it and 11.0.3 made it much worse. I have tried a factory reset and everything else. Today IOS 11.1 came out and i did the upgrade. Working perfect since. Hopefully problem is permanently solved. I was honestly ready to go Android. Apple needs to get their crap together. This is a joke.
