Black screen after sleepmode

Hey,

Since recently I get a black screen when I open my laptop or get it out of sleepmode. A short period of time it’s white with triangles or something. You hear the laptop running but I can’t do anything.

If I shut it down with the on/off button and restart it. Then there is no problem nor my laptop notices a problem.

So I don’t know what to do and it’s pretty annoying to restart the laptop almost everytime it comes out of sleepmode. It doesn’t really matter how long it is in sleepmode nor if you move it or not. It happens randomly.

Hi @lenny0101 ,

What OS is installed?

How long has it been happening? Was there an OS update around the time that it started? Did you install any new software or update any software around the time that the problem started?

Have you checked in Event Viewer to see if there are any event messages which may give you a clue as to what is occurring when this happens?

Can you perform a system restore (from a restore point) to a point in time just before you think that the problem started to see if this resolves the problem?

Can you get into BIOS OK without the black screen?

Does it happen if you start the laptop in "safe mode"?

You say that "You hear the laptop running ". Do you mean that you can hear the HDD spin up (check that the HDD activity light is active) or is it just the fan that you hear?

Go to Search, type power options and click on Power Options from search results

On the left side of the window click on Choose what the power button does

If needed, click on Change settings that are currently unavailable, under Define power buttons and turn on password protection

From the enabled options under Shutdown settings section, uncheck Turn on fast startup (recommended) checkbox to disable Hybrid Shutdown.

Click Save changes button to save the modified settings.

Close Power Options window when done.

It is recommended by Freddie1000 I am not sure this is worthfull for you or not but you can try atleast once.
