After water damage - LCD has no light

Hi,

The phone dropped into a toilet.

And immidiate got out, and been dried with a fan.

It was 1 week ago, and phone works fine but the screen is very dark, and it has no light!

I barely see the icons..

But the incoming/outgoing phonecalls are working, also the touch.

What is responsible for the Light in the screen? That could be damaged?

**Note:

  • Anyway I am going to open the phone now and make a water damage repair (Clean with alcohol etc)

in a 3gs it is more likely the backlight coil if a good clean doesn't sort the problem out. that part is a 6r8 which will require soldering...

Hi pollytintop,

I didn't understand what is: "backlight coil", and "6r8 which will require soldering"

I took out the LCD, cleaned the connector.. and still no light :/

I checked with another LCD, and the other LCD works fine.

Thank you for helping.

Ok, Did you mean that the problem is in the backlight coil, and in order to fix it, I will have to solder it?

Can you please add a picture that shows where is that backlight coil?

Thanks again man!!!

you've answered your own question. another LCD works.. so the problem isn't the backlight coil (which is on the motherboard) clean the LCD flex end and see if that helps. otherwise like ion said you need a new LCD.

par

Yes - Another LCD works.

I did not know the coil is on the MB :-)

So..?

What about some coils/flex cables on the defective LCD? No option o fix it somewho?

Thanks
