What is this part for/called? It is not removed in the teardown instructions.

That’s part of the upper antenna unit.

@tomchai And is that antenna responsible for data and wifi?
Yeah, also GPS and perhaps the NFC but I'm not entirely sure.

I believe you refer to the volume buttons/mute switch cable. At a closer look you would see that’s where the flat cable ends.
