Hi @honda1981 ,

They may be power related.

User a voltmeter to check if the alternator output is OK. A good place to check is at the car battery terminals.

With the engine running you should measure 13.8 - 14.5 VDC across the battery terminals.

Be SAFETY AWARE when you do this as the engine is running. Ensure that the car's transmission is in Park or Neutral (manual transmission) and that the parking brake (aka emergency brake, handbrake) is firmly applied

Anything less than 13.8 VDC indicates a problem withthe alternator or the voltage regulator.

Not sure with your vehicle if the voltage regulator is inbuilt in the alternator or a separate external component.

I have a similar issue so I have replaced the battery and alternator (with regulator) but issue remains where brake light, all door sensors indicate open and the battery light. Battery voltage is at 12.8vdc when car is off and 14.3vdc when car is on. I have disconnected the battery terminals but issue remains. Any suggestion will really be appreciated.

For me it was the distributor, just replaced it

I have the same problem where it hadn’t done it in 4 months but yesterday I had to leave it at a gas station in town. The brake & all doors open light comes on right before it turns off on its own. I’ve replaced the alternator with a new one as well as the battery the negative ground cable as well. The vtech solenoid and the belts

I had this exact problem just one week ago. I replaced the battery and alternator. This fixed all my problems.

Yep the alternator killed the battery

I have this issue now. I've changed the alternator and taken to Autozone to have battery and alternator rechecked. Lights came back on as I left to return to Autozone. Alternator has output as the battery was charging. It went up from 58% charge to 79% charge after alternator install. Drove to try and charge some more and hoped the lights would go out. It's evening so I had to run my headlights and as I'm driving my headlights are getting dimmer!! ABS & TRC light came on, speedo stopped working and now I'm on the side of the highway stranded with a dead/low battery. This is making any sense at all. Oh yeah, the battery was new battery, just a few months old.

Please Help!!!

The “Brake” light comes on when either the parking brake is on or there’s an issue with the brake pressurized circuit. Sometimes the Brake light stays on when the car is running due to a dirty or faulty switch at the parking brake. But you need to first check the braking system of the car to make sure there’s no problems, then look for a faulty parking brake switch. The “Maint Req’d” light is triggered by the car’s computer and the most common reason is oil change interval. Any decent oil change/lube shop can check the Maint light to see if your car is due for an oil change or if there’s something else triggering the Maint light. As jayeff mentions, the battery icon light indicates a charging system problem. But this light can also be triggered by the car’s computer so you might need to have a repair shop check the ECU codes and reset if necessary.

It is a dummy light. The above answers are literally common sense generic answers… “The brake light means the parking brake is applied" … of course it does.

Most likely your alternator is about to go out… Late 90's civics would have a dummy warning where the tachometer would hold at redline for several seconds at a time(while driving normal of course) as a warning of eminent alternator failure… what you need is to find a Honda Master Tech….

I had the same issue and replaced the alternator on my 2002 Honda Accord EX but the lights are still on and the volts are at 11.60 when I checked with the new Alternator whilst it’s still running

Ya those are dummy answers, I am a mechanic with the same problem and my car is a 98 Honda Odyssey. So what is happening to me is that the alternator and the battery have both caused eachother to go out. They work simultaneously. Well I noticed my car ran smoother and quieter with the a/c off. The a/c (when on) is making the engine run “slower” this in return slows down the alternator which in return does not fully charge the battery properly. Replacing the alternator, battery, and the a/c compressor fixed my problem. Another thing to mention is to have your serpentine belt checked. On my car, the belt tensioner is the alternator. Haven’t a new belt and tightening it to the required specs is an important key. 👌

My 2000 Honda Accord has the same lights staying on and it's definitely connected to the new alternator I Just put on the car! This is the second one I got from O'Reilly's! The first drained my battery and left me in downtown Indianapolis! These are rebuilt Ultima alternators and they are junk! These tested 4 brand new ones and all failed on their tester! Try charging your battery all night on a slow charge and see if the light go off and have a local part store put a test box on your battery and see if it's charging between 13-14 !

If you did the cluster dimmer cheat like I did, you will probably have to buy a flasher relay and solder the cluster...I hit the wrong wire. I did the RED+BLACK instead of RED and WHITE wire. I did something to my ignition I haven't fixed yet. In the video, he tells you one thing but if you watch his fingers he will do another that is different. So confused still...hazard switch and clock are SPIDERWEBBED into the whole computer system!! now I use my hazard switch as a kill switch to the motor, LMFAO!! {°¿°}

I'm having this problem right now. Car has been sitting for awhile (maybe 3 years). I just replaced the alternator and now the Brake, Battery, and door open lights flicker on when the car it idling under 2000 rpm. I'm guessing it's the battery. The battery is a Walmart brand maintenance free battery bought in June 2021. It's sat dead out in the cold for a long time. Going to a real parts store soon to replace the battery.
