SSD ( NVME Flash)  for iMac Pro - Is it possible to use externally?

My question is as following; Is it possible to reformat the new SSD (NVMe Flash) from the space gray iMac Pro 2017 model A1862 (EMC 3144) externally via an adaptor like - Universal Drive Adapter

I’ve wiped the drive and it’s pulled out. But, I’d like to install the OS independently from the iMac since it’s out of action at the moment.

With any other computer, it’s very much possible to pull out the drive and use it as an external case or adapter. Is that possible with T2 chipped computers, and with this new type of storage in the iMac Pro??

I’ve read as following

The storage in the iMac Pro uses two banks of flash chips, effectively in a RAID 0 configuration. All data written to/from the SSD goes through the T2 security processor, and all data on the flash is encrypted. You can not, for example, pull the SSD modules from one iMac and read them in another iMac - the T2 prevents this from working.

Lets clarify a few errors:

The way the modules work is more like how RAM works with interleaved memory.

As the storage units are just really raw flash chips with a buffer chip it doesn’t have driver logic or any management processor on it. Thus its not really a full SSD unit, just the flash chip half. So the T2 chip takes on the role of the management processor a normal SSD would have.

As example a Samsung 850 EVO SSD

The Red chips are the flash and little orange chip is the buffer chip

So you just can’t use it in any case or adapter cable as it’s not compatible.

Just leave the storage units in the system and re-install the OS onto it so you can get the system fixed or sell the system if that is what you are trying to do as the storage units are just not available without exchange (bad for new) directly from Apple.
