MacBook powers up but no display

Block Image

So I have a MacBook Pro mid 2014 Retina display a1502 model and the display is not working.

started flickering occasionally but would continue to work, then one day it just stopped working entirely.

It still powers on, you hear the start chime and it works plugged into an external monitor fine, the iSight also works absolutely fine.

another thing I have noticed is the keyboard backlight is dimmed on some of the function keys and I cannot change the keyboard brightness via the keys.

I have shined a light through the Apple logo and can’t see anything through the screen.

I spoke to a couple repair specialists who said it was likely the LCD cable as it was a common problem and simple fix so I bought a new one and changed it but unfortunately has not fixed the problem.

Ive tried all the basic troubleshooting and can’t seem to find a solution and now concerned it’s a logic board/fuse issue :/

also took it to the Apple store just to see what they’d say and they said it was the LCD cable aswell but would need to replace the entire display and in typical Apple fashion recommended I just buy a new MacBook as obviously mine is 6 years old.

anyone have any suggestions? photo included of the keyboard backlights.

thanks in advance

Chances are it's liquid damage on the backlight circuit on the logic board. Since flickering was seen and now it is not showing a display it'll most likely need to be taken to a reputable MacBook board repair specialist (micro-soldering for macbooks) to get it fixed.

To confirm a no backlight fault shine a flashlight behind the apple logo and see if an very image is being displayed when turning on the MacBook. Should see apple logo / loading bar or login text.

I can 100% confirm that it’s not got liquid damage, I’ve never spilt anything on it and nobody else has used it. Also the liquid damage indicators are still white and there is no signs of corrosion at all.

Also I did the flashlight through the Apple logo as mentioned in my initial post and there is nothing there
