Screen gets occasional black and white horizontal lines

The display cable may have a loose connection or it may be damaged where it passes through the hinges from the motherboard to the panel. Hopefully it is not a fault in the display panel itself.

Just to eliminate the remote possibility that it is a GPU or motherboard problem, try connecting an external monitor to the laptop’s HDMI port and check that the problem is not also there. Even a TV can be used as an external monitor as long as you have the cable to connect the two together.

This will allow you to inspect the display cable connection on the motherboard and the panel and also the cable itself for any damage.

If everything appears to be OK then as a DIY option the next thing is to temporarily install a compatible known working display panel and check its’ performance to see if the problem is still there or not.

If the display cable is damaged etc, the part number for the cable can be found on p.20 of the manual. If you search online by only typing the part number appropriate to your particular model cable in the search term of your browser you will get results for suppliers of the part
