Is there any way I can identify and repair my tv? It’s an LG 50LN5100 and when I press the power button the tv flashes brightly, then my screen becomes extremely dark.

Hi,
It seems as though it is a backlight problem.
This could either be the Power/LED board or perhaps the LED strips themselves.
Looking at this supplier of replacement parts for the TV if your power board (see 1st item), has the same board number then most likely the problem is with the LED strips.
You could try using a TV backlight tester - examples only (videos on YouTube show how to use it) to determine if it is a LED strip problem or a power board problem, to avoid problems if you order the power board and cannot get a refund if it isn’t the problem. Just a thought.

Hi,
Is the TV still turned on or does it turn off? (Check the status of the TV power light to confirm).
If it is still on, is there any audio when the screen turns off?
If the TV is still on try shining a torch at an angle close to the screen to check for any images on the screen. They will be very faint if they are there at all so trying this in a darkened room may help.
Try viewing the TV menus to check if they display at all.

The TV is on, when all the lights are off you can see a faint image of the background. There is still audio and we can barely see the TV menus.
