Does LCD screen connectors control keyboard and touchpad function?

I have an HP Envy x360 15m-bp111dx laptop. The LCD screen is cracked and I am going to replace it. The display is jumpy and acting flaky. I connected an external display and I can see the desktop, still jumpy and flaky and the keyboard and touchpad work intermittently. When I disconnect and remove the LCD screen, I lose keyboard/touchpad function altogether. I can connect an external USB keyboard and with the external display the desktop displays as it should with full keyboard function. Does the two LCD connections affect the onboard keyboard and touchpad function? What I am saying is…do I have two problems; the LCD screen AND a keyboard/touchpad problem or when I replace the LCD screen will my laptop keyboard/touchpad return to normal function?

When you say “I can connect an external USB keyboard and with the external display the desktop displays as it should with full keyboard function” is the laptop LCD screen disconnected at this stage?

Just wondering if the problem occurs with the LCD screen connected and because it is a touchscreen, whether this is interfering with the touchpad functions. Don’t know why the keyboard would have a problem but that may be related with the buttons on the trackpad perhaps. I guess that since you have to replace the display anyway, once a new display is connected you’ll know the answer

This details how to remove all the major components and what their part numbers are. If you search online using the appropriate part number only for your particular model in your search browser, you will get results for suppliers of the part. Usually with LCD panels the part number can be found on the back of the panel somewhere, if you wish top verify that you’re ordering the correct one.

Yes, with the LCD screen disconnected and an external display connected to the laptop the keyboard and trackpad does not work at all. I just now reinstalled the old LCD screen and the keyboard/trackpad function returns. I came to the same conclusion. I'll know the answer once a new LCD screen is installed. I was just trying to hedge my bet. If I install a new LCD screen and then I still have a keyboard/trackpad problem then I will need to buy a new/used palmrest assembly and then I have to ask myself is it worth spending that much money on the machine? Once I order the LCD screen then I'm committed to going the full measure. Thank you for your response. You have been extremely helpful!
