Why is there an SSD temp sensor included in the kit?

Im assuming the kit has install instructions, as I can't find them here. Perhaps this part is already in there, as the SSD that just went belly up was reporting temps via iStats for years… Can anyone clarify? thx!!!

Update (10/04/2020)

Yes, but why do I need it? The installer video never mentions it. There is already an SSD in there, albeit dead.

What SSD do you have in your system? The SATA drive guide does state you need the thermal sensor if you are replacing the HDD.

What maybe confusing you is there is a second drive possibility! Thats the PCIe blade SSD which is mounted on the backside of the logic board (great place well hidden and hard to get to) This SSD is present when you buy a Fusion Drive system or if you had ordered the system as a SSD only.

As far as needing it yes! it's needed in this series!
