Need to restore computer to like new again

I have just received my Acer switch back after it had been stolen, sold then retrieved by authorities and returned back to me but there has been a new password and security set up on it which is unfortunately preventing me from getting into it. Apparently there is some sort of software installed onto it preventing any sort of reset. I was thinking maybe changing the hard drive or mother board or something will help ?? Would this restore computer to like new again

I suspect the recovery partition may be nuked based on the context here; I would not rely on it being present. On some of them I work with it means absolutely nothing since the recovery is the factory image (and the physical media is the reference OS installer with SLIC/BIOS key location information/minimal changes). And unless you use the factory image, you lose the factory installed programs.

Most people nuke it, sadly. I TRY to preserve it but if I'm getting it w/o the hard drive I'll just reload a copy from clean media, especially with the BIOS key (8/10). For 7/Vista, I at least need to try and locate generic SLIC media.

The odds it still has it’s recovery partition are sadly extremely low. As such, your best bet is to borrow a computer from someone else, download the Media Creation Tool and make a USB boot drive.

Once the OS is reloaded, then you can find the drivers from the Acer website.
