Welllllllllll I think the solution here is to not smash it on the floor. But hey, we’ve all done it at some point. To make sure that it’s actually broken, try holding the Xbox button down and see if you feel the haptic buzz that you normally get when you power it on. Assuming it doesn’t work entirely and there isn’t obvious exterior damage, (cracks, broken clips, etc) the first thing you should check is the batteries. The force of it being hit on the ground probably knocked them loose. If you can ensure that they’re in well and are good (you should try new batteries just in case) then I’d check the contacts next. There are silver contacts where the ends of the batteries meet the controlled, they’re labeled positive and negative. Check and see if they’re bent, dislodged, or otherwise not making contact with the battery for any reason. I hope that helps!
If this doesn’t work, drop a reply with the nature of the damage and a picture (if there’s exterior damage), along with what corner of the controller hit the ground.

I personally find that not smashing my controller on the ground works for me.

Buy a new one and wrap it in cotton wool so it bounces.

eh Hmm, Uh what?
I found that not playing at all works well. You could also just buy a ton of spares to smash

I smashed my controller and it doesn't work even with new batteries (the Xbox button doesn't start the console or controller). I checked the contacts and they seem fine. Model of my controller is 1697, is there any way to fix it? My name is Andrew, Im from Prague- Czech Republic. Thanks.

@ondra open it up and check for damage to the circuit board and torn off wires.
