iPad internal hardware removal

Hello, my friend had this iPad from afew years ago. She really wants all her photos off the iPad but when she was younger she thought it would be funny to burry it because the screen broke. It’s been underground for 4 years and we are wondering if it is possible to remove the internal hard drive and put it into a new iPad.

@kmab “remove the internal hard drive and put it into a new iPad “ can’t be done. there is no internal hard drive etc. All the information, files etc., are stored on IC’s (Chips) that are soldered to the logic board. There is no way to recover any of this. Consider this a total loss, sorry.

@kmab you know just for completion sake, post some good pictures of the iPads logic board with your QUESTION. Let’s see what we are dealing with here. There may not be any corrosion etc. on it and maybe it stayed well preserved while buried in the ground. Now, don’t go ahead and just rip it apart, use the same care as you would if it was new. Use these guides iPad Mini GSM to work on it.

@kmab - There is one way to get your photos!

It won’t be cheap, but if you really need to get them this is your only option!

You’ll need to ship your iPad to someone who has the deep skills to fix it so the photo’s and another info can be salvaged.

As an example: Jessa Bethany should be able to help you.
