Battery problem - battery not charging - power source AC adapter

Hi all, thanks in advance for the help.

Since when did it occur: After I unscrewed my Macbook and put new thermal paste on the heat sink I am getting this problem.

Problem: As the title says. My battery doesn’t charge altough the Macbook detects the battery. It is using the power adapter to work. If I unplug is the Macbook powers down.

See bottom of the message for battery information (it is in Dutch)

Is it possible during the re-assembly of the logic board I forgot to re-connect something? Don’t know what else could be causing the problem.

Edit: the Macbook has been plugged it the past few hours, it was turned off, the battery stayed at 89%.

Sorry I don't speak dutch ;-{ And translating the image would be harder that if we got a dedicated app like CoconutBattery for the details.

Please, install this gem of an app! CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the apps main window and post it here for us to see Ajout d'images à une question existante

I am currenty on the road but will post it later. The app is already installed and I didn’t see any special things. Battery is located, gets power but doesnt charge.

If your system battery needs charging ~80% charged plug in the MagSafe give it a minute and take the snapshot then so we see the charge rate.

@danj I have edited my guestion with a photo of Coconut. Anything you can make out of it?

I don't really know what you mean with the second response about the system battery. But the Macbook has been plugged in for a few hours and the battery stays at 89%.

I’ve got a better idea on what’s happening here. Your battery is OK! But the charging logic in your system is not!

Over time the knockoff chargers burn the comparator circuit which is how the system knows what the batteries level is so it doesn’t overcharge it. Here the charging logic is not able to read the upper level point. We can try resetting the SMC but I don’t think that will fix it How to reset the SMC of your Mac

You’ll need to get your system to someone which has the needed tools and skills to repair your logic board.

Here’s more on knockoff chargers!

Thanks for the answer. But I am still using my original charger. Never had any issues with it. The battery is probably not the original. Bought it on this website.

CoconutBattery is telling us the battery is good!

The fact the charging is only .02 Watts is telling me you have a logic board failure. As to what caused it if you have a real Apple charger then you might have corrosion around the SMC chip.
