2 MacBook top case replacement - keyboard not working
Hello,
Like most users, I've had issues with the buttlerfly keyboard and finally gave up and sent it to Apple to get it replaced. However, Apple claimed a non-existent water spill damage in my laptop and tried to charge an exhorbitant amount of money - I knew no liquid had ever been spilled over my laptop, and later opened and checked the liquid damage stickers and they were fine.
Since Apple refused to replace the keyboard I did it myself, replaced the whole top case with a new one. However, although the speakers and touch bar included in the new top case work, the keyboard doesn't respond to any key presses. The keyboard backlight works fine, though.
What could be the issue?
- Faulty top case.
- Damaged flex cable - I have ordered another one to try connecting the old keyboard without having to take apart everything again.
- Keyboard blocked by T2 chip - then wouldn't the touch bar also be unresponsive?
Is there anything else that could be wrong here?

What do you get for an error running the onboard diagnostics? Restart your system using a USB wired keyboard and mouse/trackpad (if needed) press the D key to enter.

I was finally able to test with an external wired keyboard and the diagnostic screen shows that there is no issue (code ADP000).

If i were you i might get does computer keyboards and attach the wire to my laptop. Then you don't even need the laptops keyboard. But if the mouse is not working i would get a computer mouse too
