Hi @kf637,

Can you view the monitor's OSD menus at all?

Can you try connecting it to another computer and check if it works using vga or DVI-D or HDMI?

Have you tried changing the HDMI cord?

Has this setup i.e Asus laptop and HP monitor worked OK before?

par

@jayeff I can view the settings, the HDMI cable is not the issue and it worked yesterday.

Can you try connecting another monitor to the laptop e.g. a TV to eliminate the laptop's HDMI output as the problem?

It may be wrong to assume that the problem is with the HP display until proven that it is by either connecting another HDMI signal source to the monitor and it also doesn't work or proving that the laptop's HDMI output is OK.

par

@jayeff It seems that my PC doesn’t detect the display, I don’t have any other devices that I can try on.

I'm just trying to help you to avoid wasting your time looking for the problem in the wrong place that's all.

Do you know anyone with a TV? Ask them if you can hook up your laptop to the HDMI port on the TV for a few minutes and check for a display. If it works then it is the HP display where the problem is. If not it is the laptop.

Same if someone has a dvd player. Hook up the monitor to it and check.

It's a bit easier to carry a laptop and HDMI cable to a friend's house rather than drag a monitor around though ;-)

Typically, being plugged in is determined by a wire in the cable being grounded when plugged into a monitor. In order to show in the DM, the computer queries the device. If it does not get a response it has no idea what it is. Best to plug the computer into another monitor as an HDMI or DV circuit is not the same as a DVI or VGA port circuit. Some monitors have multiple ports. If yours does you can try a different connection.

Can you open the monitor and check for any leaky or bulged capacitors? I have attached a picture below for reference.
