whirlpool dishwasher needs to restart every time

Hi,

My whirlpool dishwasher is about 11 years old. It can start the cycle, but stop in the middle of drying cycle, and then not be able to restart (no blink light, no response at all, just seems no power connection). When I unplug or shut down the circuit downstairs, and re-connect, it will start, but stop again in the middle of drying cycle, and fails to restart. If I re-connect, restart, and stop the cycle right away, it just dies and does not respond to any button. Any idea what’s the problem? Thanks!

Sorry, it is a kennmore dishwasher. The model # is: 587.15239900A

Don’t know but the quickest way to find out is to try and get hold of the service manual or the service data sheet (Frigidaire part # 154765301).

Unfortunately I cannot find a free download online for either.

Sometimes the tech sheet may be found in a plastic sleeve, taped up behind the kick plate (toe plate?) of the dishwasher. Worth a look anyway.

The manual and the tech sheet will have the diagnostics and the wiring diagram which will help you to find out why the power is being lost during the cycle and then coming back after a reset.

If you manage to find out what’s wrong and it is a faulty component, search online for 58715239900A parts to get results for suppliers that suit you best.

Thanks for the information. I do see “service data sheet” that was taped behind the kick plate. The power will not be back once the cycle stops anytime unless I unplug and plug back. Is there any problem with the capacitor? Will it resolve the problem if I replace the control board? Thanks again!

Did you try running a complete diagnostic test as per the service data sheet to see if that showed anything, you never said?

Check that the door latch switch is OK there should be a diagnostic test for it.

Sometimes running the diagnostics will reset the machine and keep it that way, rather than having to reset it every time by removing the power.
