Hi @killer19ak ,

Just for the record @jayeff is quite correct about the cheaper UPS's and "clean" power. Read on.

To quote "A double-conversion (online) UPS provides consistent, clean and near perfect power regardless of the condition of incoming power. This UPS converts incoming AC power to DC, and then back to AC. UPS systems with this technology operate on isolated DC power 100 percent of the time and have a zero transfer time because they never need to switch to DC power. Double-conversion UPS systems are designed to protect mission-critical IT equipment, data center installations, high-end servers, large telecom installations and storage applications, and advanced network equipment from damage caused by a power blackout, voltage sag, voltage surge, over voltage, voltage spike, frequency noise, frequency variation, or harmonic distortion."

What you are refering to are consumer UPS which DO NOT clean power.

Hope this helps.

Hi @killer19ak

When the PC starts but no display I'm wondering if it is even passing POST (Power On Self Test) the first time but does on subsequent times.

Try connecting a system speaker (example only) to the speaker header pins on the F_Panel connector on the motherboard (see p.15 and p.12 Item #8 of the user manual for pins and location) just to check if there are any beep error codes

Also I realize that it is a relatively new motherboard but check if the voltage of the coin cell battery on the motherboard is OK and that it is securely inserted into the holder. This is the CMOS battery and it maintains the BIOS settings when the PC is turned off. Sometimes if the voltage is low (usually <2.5V DC) the BIOS can become corrupted preventing a normal start.

@jayeff ,I think the cmos battery is fine because pc is booting altough it takes several restart, anyways - update- I saw there was a new update on the site so I updated the bios , let see does it work or not- btw bro a question for you , what do you think is it a software issue or a hardware issue, because cables are fine, connectiins are secure ,is it the psu , what do you think please give suggestions ?

par

@killer19ak

Connect a system speaker as suggested.

You have to start somewhere if nothing is obvious and at least getting beep errors or not is a start.

Also just curious. What happens if you turn on the power to the PSU (assuming that you turn it off when the PC is not in use) and then don't start the PC for about 30 seconds? Does it boot OK with display etc or does it hang with no display?

par

@jayeff First of all bro please explain to me , what is a system speaker and what is it used for and secondly I hardy ever touch the psu switch (as its unnecessary) I generally just turn the power plug on > then ups > then pc but in case If I turn the power button > then ups > but this time, didnt turn the pc on - so what happens now is both my monitors light up for a sec and turn off again, which is normal as what display monitor will give if pc itself is off.

Update- I just updated my mobo's bios and now my problem is solved a little bit as now I dont have to touch the monitor cables ,now I just have to press my pc power button for 5 sec > pc turns off> I turn it on again > and boom , it works but still there is a question that why is it taking a restart to function properly

Hi @killer19ak

I think if you re-read @jayeff's Answer above and follow the links everything is explained about the "system speaker" and the erro codes.

@killer19ak

It doesn't matter whether the power is off at the PSU or the wall switch, as long as the PSU itself was not having "live" power connected.

I've had a few cases where if the power to the PSU is turned on, be it at the PC or the wall outlet that if the PC was then turned on straight away the system didn't boot properly, whereas if the power was turned on and then you waited for 30 seconds before turning on the PC it did. At this stage I'm still trying to determine if it is motherboard or PSU related but the workaround until I do is to turn on the power and wait a bit before turning on the PC as it starts up perfect every time

@aactech, Have you ever come across this problem re PC hangs on startup when first powered on and started but not on subsequent startups, but if you wait for a bit between connecting power to the PSU (either PC power On/Off power switch or wall outlet) and then start the PC with the Power On button it works first time, every time. Temp related perhaps?

Cheers

My guess, the HDD is failing. Sometimes it can't read it and just stops. A reboot restarts it and it reads.

When it starts, open a cmd prompt and run CHKDSK C:

It will run without restart and tell you if it found errors. If it did, rerun CHKDSK C: /f

You will have to reboot and it will try to fix the errors.

If it does not tell you it has errors on the first run, then it may be an MBR issue which is a little more complicated to fix.

It would be wise to first make sure you have your stuff backed up.

I would also recommend getting Macrium Reflect Free and creating an image of your drive.

Depending on the outcome, it may be time to consider replacing the HDD>
