Before I order the replaceybattery I could not boot up the MacBook.
Having replaced the battery I still can’t boot up the MacBook. Is there anything I can do since I can’t disable the auto boot?

I have this same question. The battery replacement guide says:
Before starting this procedure, you must disable your Mac's Auto Boot feature. Auto Boot powers on your Mac when you open the lid, and may be accidentally triggered during disassembly. Use this guide or follow the abbreviated instructions below to disable Auto Boot. This command may not work on all Macs.
But my MacBook stopped taking a charge and the battery died. It won’t turn on anymore, so I have no way to disable Auto Boot. Does this mean I can’t replace the battery myself?

No you can still replace the battery, you just need to be extra careful that you don’t drop or touch the logic board other than the battery connection as you don’t want the system to short out if the logic board still has power.
