Suggested adhesive for key replacement

My MacBook got the dreaded sticky keys and after what I assume was me pressing too hard, the key popped off completely. A little tab on the butterfly clip was broken as was the one of clips on the key cap. I’m a few months past the replacement program so my options were to pay to fix it or deal with an unattached key. I ordered the replacement pieces and got to work replacing it. Everything went smoothly but as soon as I pushed the key into place, the whole thing came off fully attached. The adhesive of course is no longer sticky. What can I use to attach the key back on? Again, this is not a broken key issue but an adhesive issue.

Well the good news is Apple offers a free repair on Butterfly keyboards. But!! Your time is very short as in January Apple will likely suspend repairs on this series. Then you have the expense! So if you can get to an Apple Store I would. Put things back together as best as you can as they may accuse you of trying to fix it which of course you wouldn’t dare 😒 don’t offer them an out.

OK, not happening… then you need to replace the damaged part/s. The design doesn’t offer a way to glue things without making a bigger mess! Here’s one source for the parts TheBookYard UK - KeyCaps
