My 3DS is Not Switching On…

I got a 3DS XL from my cousin in the U.S. about 5 months ago. He even gave me his whole game collection. But 4 day back, I kept the 3DS in my pocket in Sleep Mode for a really long time. When I took it out, it was not switching on and seemed dead. So I kept it for charge and left to get a snack and 5 minutes later, I came back and saw the Orange charging light was gone. I readjusted the cable and the light lit up again. Usually after like half an hours charge, you can boot it up whilst it's charging but when I pressed the power button, no blue light lit up and no screen switched on. I started getting confused and set a timer for the charge. As soon as I plugged the charger in and the Orange light lit up, I started the timer. The light was lit for exactly 1 minute and then stopped. I don't know what to do...I tried opening the back and cleaning the battery space and also cleaning the SD Card slot but nothing works. If it helps, the charger I'm using is not the original one my cousin got with the console as i had to change it cos American adapters are not shaped for other countries sockets and there is also a voltage difference. So I bought a new cable of Amazon and it worked nicely. Please help, I really miss that blue light…
