iMac not booting and showing blank screen

I have an iMac from 2012, and has been working so amazing until earlier today. My iMac has been crashing constantly, and I went to turn it on, and I have a blank display. My screen is not glued to the chassis, so I wa able to prop it open to look at the LEDs. I saw all four. Please help, I have no idea what Is going on. Also, I reset RP ram or whatever, played boot noise, but then showed wight screen.

Ok, it has been off for a while, and now it works.

After a while of the blank screen, I see the folder with the question mark. I will try to look into this further.

Solution retenue

I found out what it was. I disconnected and reconnected the SATA and SATA power cables, and it booted without a problem. Don’t know what and why it exactly happened, but I’m glad it works now!

Sounds like your drive gave out. What is your systems config if you remember. HDD, SSD or Fusion.

I am using an SSD instead of an HDD, I replaced it about a month ago.

My drive must be glitchy or something like that. When I try to boot sometimes it does.

@ottobunnycoder - What was the drive make and model as well as size.

It is a PNY 500 GB SSD. I disconnected and reconnected the SATA and SATA power canes, and now it works just fine.

If your iMac starts up to a blank screen, it could result from display issues (eg. The iMac's display may be faulty or disconnected), incorrect startup settings, corrupted software, malfunctioning hardware, and more. To fix this issue, check out the post offered by the Apple Official:

It's worth mentioning that no matter what causes your iMac to fail to boot, your data will be at risk. This is a sign of a failing drive, not a screen issue. We need to focus on the drive.

@danj Yeah, you are right. In this case, it has nothing to do with the screen.
